Omoyele Sowore |
The routine battle for the Leadership of Nigeria, Africa's biggest population has begun, if the population is a blessing or a curse, it is still hard to conclude as the change in Leadership over the past years seemed to have been same recycled men who though old and feeble have refused to allow the Younger generation to step into the vacuum of their failure.
Nigeria has transited from military rule to what seemed to be democracy but more like a dictatorship, The system of governance is undefined and the masses are not so much affected by the governance, as men assume power looting the treasury without benefitting the people over whom they preside
There has been tribal dissention and political unease, protest and unrest or even the war has not deter the subsequent leaders form continuing in their old ways
Another Election to determine the President is fast approaching , one Young man who has consistently refused to back down from accepting recycled Leader is Omoyele Sowore, an astute fighter and activist
Sowore who contested against the current Nigerian President in 2019 is again running alongside some other Politicians who have been in the routines of politics for ages

William Ruto and Raila Odinga; The Unending fiasco of a political debacle in Kenya
![]() |
Ruto and Raila |
William Ruto the newly elected President of Kenya and opposition leader Raila Odinga are on an unending fiasco over outcome of the August 9 election .
This stems from Ruto’s plot to kick out four IEBC commissioners who were opposed to the August 9 presidential election outcome and Kenya Kwanza's plan to raid the opposition.
However, it is election that opened up the disagreement between the duo Raila fired the first salvo on
Raila Odinga had on Thursday accused Ruto of taking the country back to the state of affairs last witnessed in the Nyayo regime of the 1980s.
Stating,
“This kind of impunity, selective injustice and capture of institutions will have grave consequences,” Raila opined in reference to the start of the process of removing the four IEBC commissioners.
He further accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of having proceeded on a path of impunity, witch hunt and revenge.
“Their target has been the institutions and individuals the regime thinks did not dance enough to its tunes during campaigns,” .
Barely a day after Raila issued the statement, Ruto fired back in response,
In his reaction said, “lords of impunity, who destroyed oversight institutions using the handshake fraud, should allow Parliament to hold rogue officials who put the nation in danger by subverting the democratic will of the people to account.”
Adding that the “new order is rule of law and wishes of big men.”
Raila had accused Ruto of training its guns on the four IEBC commissioners for having expressed reservations over the process that led to him being declared winner.
The four commissioners include deputy chairperson Juliana Cherera and commissioners Francis Mathenge, Irene Masit and Justus Nyang’aya.
Azimio also accused Ruto of 'poaching' its MPs to create an impression that he is more powerful.
The Prime Cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi has been seen to be making a deliberate effort to snatch the Western region from Raila.
On Wednesday, MPs from the region met Mudavadi where they resolved to work together for the development of the region.
The MPs led by the Western Region MPs Caucus chairman Sirisia MP John Waluke expressed their commitment to the unity of the region.
The planned by-election is also turning out to be the avenue to determine the popularity of Ruto and Raila.
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has said Azimio has no option but to win the forthcoming Bungoma and Elgeyo Marakwet by-elections.
He urged the coalition leader Raila Odinga to ensure the forthcoming campaigns are issue-based.
Moses Wetang’ula relinquished the Bungoma seat when he contested for the Speaker of National Assembly seat, which he won.
Kipchumba Murkomen resigned as Elgeyo Marakwet senator when he was appointed to the Cabinet.
Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has also accused Ruto of scheming to have IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati in office when the December 8 by-elections are held.
She has argued that Chebukati should be on terminal leave since his term comes to an end on January 17, 2023.
In a remark Karua said “He is insisting on the officials to be in office so that they can give him the results he wants,”

South African workers protest over pay
South African experienced workers protest as thousand of government workers took to the street in a nationwide demonstrations Tuesday (Nov 22) demanding for a 10% increase in pay.
Negotiations between public sector unions and the government reached a deadlock. As government is willing to unilaterally implement a 3% pay hike, which the union rejected.
In Pretoria workers dropped their tools and marched to the offices of the national treasury to submit their demands.
Employment minister Thulas Nxesi, who was a former trade unionist, was booed by workers as he arrived to receive the memorandum of demands.
"We are here to register our complaints against the government, the sixth administration that does not take workers seriously", Sandile Dube, a union official said.
"Government workers deserve more than the three percent (3%). We reject the gratuity that does not add value in our pensions. That pension is the only thing that is reserved for our children."
The government has previously announced a no-work-no-pay principle for workers who took park in the demonstrations, but this did not stop the demonstrations across the country’s major cities.
This was a second round of demonstrations after the Public Service Association, which represents over 200,000 public servants, initially declared a dispute with the government.
Escalating refusal
The wage dispute has now escalated, with up to 800,000 workers rejecting the government's pay increase.
"We are here because we don't want this three percent (3%). We cannot afford petrol, we cannot afford electricity. Everything is going up but our increment does not seem to be going up," Tholakele Zulu, a government employee explained.
The unemployment rate of over 30%. This record was heavily criticized by the leader of the South African Communist Party.
"The government that listens only to the bourgeoisie and condemns workers does not deserve to be re-elected into office", Solly Mapaila told protestors.
"And therefore, how they respond to these public sector demands and workers' rights and the entire demands of the working class is the basis upon which they can lead us. But at the moment they don't deserve to lead us."
Seven unions in the public service face an uphill battle as they press on with their national day of action which will be the country's third national one-day strike by organised labour this year alone.
Mike Shingange, deputy president of the Congress of South African Trade Unions, said the unions would continue mobilizing more workers to join nationwide pickets to force the government back to negotiate with the people
