A professor fom the university of the free state (UFS) South Africa is now ranked as the second-best mathematician in the world and number 188 in all sciences, technology and engineering in Standford university's top 2% scientist in the world
Professor Abdon Atagana of applied Mathematics at the groundwater studies at the UFS has been commended in his field.
Standford created a list of top 2% world class researchers based on citation over thier full career according to UFS, the list was published in September and highlighted 195 605 researchers who make up the top 2%
adding that Stanford developed a database of highly cited scientist that is freely assessable to the public and other standardized data on citation, h-index, co authorship adjusted hm-index, citation to publication in various authorship position and a composite indicator (c-score) Data for impact across a lifetime and impact in a single recent year are displayed separately
professor Atangana who is originally a Cameroonian has made Bloemfontein a home for the past 12 years is now reported one of 10 South African in the top 1%of scientist on the global ratings
