Yoweri Kaguta Museveni |
For 36 years, the dictator of Uganda has held power so
tightly, unwilling to let go, like many African Leaders, President Yoweri Kaguta
Tibuhaburwa had conquered Uganda with his iron fist type “Dictatorship”
When he took power on January 29 1986, He was quoted to have
said, I don’t know why leaders stay too long in Power”
Museveni in his hey days, spearheaded a rebellion alongside
the then military general Tito Okello and General Bale Trevor to oust Milton
Obote and General Idi Amin who was incarcerated before his death in Saudi
Arabia.
Many of the Young Uganda are living in trepidation of the
man whose reign has lasted longer than the age of majority of the Uganda
younger population, many of whom has not breathe a fresh air of new Leadership
All opposition against Museveni is often clamped upon by the
ever loyal force of Uganda and he is widely known to be the longest serving dictator
in East Africa with special type of election.
Museveni is not known to move around, He has reduced many
foreign trips and travels strictly by roads
The Uganda is focusing on a severe curtailing of the Allied
Democratic forces an Islamic armed group primarily active in the Democratic
republic of Congo and the President of Uganda has given strict instruction to
deal with these group
Many roads are closed owing to the presence of this group
and this becomes a burden to the people
Speaking with the citizens of Uganda on Friday 2nd December,
The President said until the ADF has been dealt with decisively, the people of Uganda
will continue to suffer the inconvenience of block roads when he is passing
“When I’m moving around, they stop vehicles which is
something I wouldn’t like but because we still have these types of elements;
that’s why the security takes precautions which sometimes inconvenience the
public but we are really weeding out especially ADF in Congo and we shall get
rid of those inconveniences after we have thoroughly uprooted ADF,”
For about a Year, the road blocks has been a constant
recurrence whenever Museveni is moving across Uganda, they claimed the aim was
to protect the President
These efforts IS carried out in military grand style with the
special forced protecting the President (SFC)
There has been pockets of attack on the security personnel
which the President discarded as the acts of some criminal elements, Reacting
to these he said
“When you attack armed people, you may succeed once but once
the armed people know the group attacking them, they are alert. This time you
come they will be ready for them and that’s what is happening… I want to assure
the public that these are shallow types of actions which shouldn’t worry you
because those who are linked to ADF we shall deal with them. They are really in
a bad situation in Congo and in their stupidity, they were thinking that the
forest is a safe place for them without knowing that the forest is a very good
place for us…You come to attack a police station you will die that really
shouldn’t worry you at all,”
Listing an attack at
a concert in Kapeeka Playground in Nakaseke district where one UPDF officer and
two attackers were killed. One of the assailant was named as Denis Ssekimpi he was allegedly identified
by the several documents he had on his body such as a National ID, driving
permit and a loan agreement and other documents.
He further stated that
“An analysis of the documents of Ssekimpi is that he lives
in Namusera in Wakiso district where he has some rentals and he is a member of
the NUP -National Unity Platform executive of Wakiso district. Preliminary
investigations show that Ssekimpi was a serial killer and robber using the very
gun we recovered at Kapeeka he stole by killing a security guard,”
