Suspect in Viral Assault Video Arrested, Faces Attempted Murder Charge
The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Agwu Ukpo, who was captured in a viral video allegedly assaulting a woman during an altercation said to have stemmed from a dispute over a pot of soup.
The state Police Public Relations Officer disclosed on Sunday that the suspect was apprehended following investigations launched after the disturbing footage surfaced online.
According to the command, Ukpo will be arraigned and prosecuted on charges bordering on assault and attempted murder upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice is served and warned members of the public against resorting to violence in the resolution of disputes.
